You earn coins by accomplishing goals, completing challenges, and winning ranked auto-matched games. Challenges and ranked auto-match games are available when you reach level 3. You can also buy more coins by tapping on the plus sign by your total coins display at the top right of the screen.

To level up, you must earn a required number of experience points. You earn experience points by playing computer players and auto-matched online opponents. You earn more experiences points when you defeat auto-matched online opponents and higher-level computer players.

The discard pile can be picked up only when all of the following conditions are satisfied. First, the top card on the discard pile, called the upcard, must not be a wild card or a black three. Next, you must be able to meld the upcard. If the discard pile is not frozen, you may meld the upcard by adding it to existing meld or by making a new meld with the upcard and at least 2 other cards from your hand. If the discard pile is frozen you must meld the upcard with 2 natural cards of the same rank from your hand. Finally, if this is your initial meld of the hand, you must be able to meld enough points to satisfy the required point value that was determined by your score at the beginning of the hand.

There are several rules that may prevent you from melding. For your first meld during a hand, the total point value of the cards in the meld must equal or exceed a required point value that depends upon your score at the conclusion of the previous hand. Bonuses for red threes and canastas are not counted. You may not make a meld if it would leave your hand with only 1 or 2 cards, unless you can go out during the turn. You cannot go out unless you have 1 or 2 canastas, depending upon the house rules. A legal meld consists of at least 3 cards of the same rank, and at least 2 of them must be natural cards. There is not a limit on the number of cards in a meld, but it can never include more than 3 wild cards.

Redecorate your home and furnish it with an item that would support placing a small plant on top of it. New locations to add items may become available when some items are placed. The new locations will flash for several seconds when they appear. A house plant would like nice upon a work bench, sideboard, buffet, or a coffee table. The location to add a coffee table is only available when a couch has been furnished.

There are goals that you must complete to unlock Brett, Annie, Diego, and Helena. In addition, you must unlock the city Los Angeles before you can play Sam, Diego, and Helena.

Host a game and select the desired number of players for the game. Tap the Invite button at an empty seat and then select the Friends tab. You can then tap to select an online friend, who will receive an invite message in her app, or an offline friend, who will receive a notification on her iPhone or iPad. You can also tap the Share Invitation button and text, email, or AirDrop a game invitation link.

To receive game invitations when you're not using the App, you must allow notifications for the Canasta App and enable Game Invite Notifications within the Canasta App. To allow notifications, go to the Settings App, tap Canasta, tap Notifications, and ensure that Allow Notifications is on. To enable Game Invite Notifications in the Canasta App, go to the Settings Screen, tap the Notifications button, and ensure that Game Invites is on.

Your profile may have been reset or changed if you signed out of Apple's Game Center service or signed into Game Center with a different Apple ID. You may have been signed out of Game Center when upgrading to a new version of iOS. To restore your old profile, go to the Settings App, tap the Game Center section title, ensure that Game Center is enabled, and sign in with the Apple ID that you used earlier. When you return to the Canasta App, you should receive a prompt to use your old profile. Send an email to support@outland.com if you need help.
